About Nwosu Ugonna Christopher:
Tell us about your artistic background and experience. What led you to pursue art as a creative outlet?:
My artistic background started when I was in 100 level in the higher institution (Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri Imo State), when we were all told to do a free hand sketch drawing of a moulded sculpture in front of arts and design department, and from that exercise, I became Interested in arts and my experience through the journey of drawing arts was awesome, because I am always excited whenever I am about to draw. What led me to pursue art is that it speaks so many things through drawing, (because a picture is enough to describe many words) and at the end of the day you are being patronized by people buying it from you.
What inspires you as an artist? Are there specific themes or subjects that you find yourself drawn to?:
What inspired me was my first portrait art drawing I did and I found out that if I add more effort and energy, it will be more better, so whenever I watch Professional artist drawing online, I am inspired to draw like them, so what I do is to pick up my pencil, set up my drawing board and paper and start drawing, following thier method of drawing, which I end up achieving better results in the drawings day by day. Yes there are specific themes and subject I found myself drawn to, and it is drawing of human portrait art.
What do you hope to communicate or evoke through your art? Is there a specific message or emotion that you strive to convey to your audience?
The message or emotion I am to convey to my audience is to inspire change and challenge societal norms, and that specific message I am to convey to my audience is empathy.
Are there any particular artists or art movements that have influenced your work? How have they shaped your artistic perspective?
Yes there have been and they have shaped my artistic perspective through making me to know that there is more to art, most especially when it comes to achieving hyperealism in art and being persistent in art have shaped my artistic perspective.
How do you handle criticism or feedback on your artwork? How do you use it to grow and improve as an artist?
I handle criticism or I approach it with an open mind, I understand the perspective of the critic, without a defensive response, and thank the person for his/her feedback. I grow and improve with it through gaining new insight, ideas and styles which will help me develop a stronger sense of artistic vision.
Are there any specific goals or aspirations you have for your artistic career? How do you plan to pursue them?
My specific goal focuses on skill enhancement to ensure that my art remains relevant. I plan to pursue my art career through participating in art fairs and exhibitions, create a professional online portfolio, develop a strong personal brand, networking and collaborating and offer limited editions and prints.
